British Airways Flight Declares Emergency on Approach to London Heathrow
A British Airways Boeing 787-9 flying from Beijing to London Heathrow declared a general emergency as it approached the busy airport.
Flight BA38 transmitted a code 7700 to the Heathrow control tower around 25 minutes before its scheduled landing time indicating an emergency situation.
The flight, operated by a Boeing 787-9 with registration G-ZBKC, began its journey with a one-hour delay from Beijing Capital International Airport on a 12-hour long-haul flight.
Upon descending towards London Heathrow’s runway 27L, reports suggest that the crew had to shut down one of the aircraft’s engines, although the exact nature of the incident remains undisclosed at this time.
Fortunately, the plane landed safely at London Heathrow shortly before 4pm local time, with no reported injuries or casualties.
Responding to queries, British Airways and Heathrow Airport have yet to provide official comments regarding the details of the emergency.
Some experts have speculated that the emergency may have been engine-related, prompting the pilot to take necessary precautions during the landing process.
IPSO-regulated media outlets, including Express Newspapers, have been following the incident closely to provide updates as more information becomes available.
