Caddie Danny Stout Supports Michael Kim Through Tough Season
ORLANDO, Florida — Michael Kim‘s 2025 golf season has faced serious challenges, marked by several missed cuts and a withdrawal due to a back injury at the Truist Championship. Yet, despite these hurdles, Kim has shown resilience, thanks in part to his caddie, Danny Stout, who has been a steadfast presence on the course.
Kim first gained attention during his pairing with Temple LaRue in the 2013 U.S. Open, where he was upstaged by cheers for his caddie. Stout, who began caddying for Kim after a successful stint in baseball, has forged a strong partnership with the golfer. Together, they achieved a commendable 6th place at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, showcasing their effective teamwork.
Before stepping into the golfing world, Stout was a competitive baseball player. He played at Southern Mississippi and later in the Central Professional Baseball League from 2001 to 2003. His career was marked by standout performances, including an impressive record of 33 2/3 innings without allowing a run while playing for the Alexandria Aces. However, a shoulder injury ended his baseball aspirations early.
Stout then turned to golf and began caddying after participating in developmental tours like the Hooters Tour. He made his professional caddying debut with Ben Bates in 2007 before taking a break from the sport. Returning to caddying a decade later, Stout paired with Robert Allenby, and despite early challenges, they developed a strong working relationship.
During their first tournament together at the 2017 Digital Ally Open, tensions arose over a shot selection. Stout, wary of contradicting Allenby, remained silent when he believed the wrong club was chosen. That decision led to a bogey, and despite fears of being dismissed, Stout took accountability and opened a dialogue to improve their communication.
Stout later caddied for Allenby in numerous events, and their relationship solidified when Allenby officiated Stout’s wedding to LPGA player Samantha Troyanovich in December 2018, after initially proposing at Allenby’s home.
Outside of golf, Stout is dedicated to his passion for baseball. He has been the Head Coach for the Wave Travel Baseball 12U Team since 2009 and serves as a scorer for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Stout balances these activities with his work as a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Beach Properties of Florida, demonstrating a commitment to sports and community.
With a career marked by both athletic achievement and personal relationships, Danny Stout continues to embody dedication in all his pursuits, playing a crucial role in Michael Kim’s ongoing journey in professional golf.
