California Ticket Wins $204.5 Million Powerball Jackpot

LANSING, MI — A ticket sold in California won the $204.5 million Powerball jackpot during the drawing on Saturday, May 31. The winner matched all five white numbers and the Powerball, making them the sole recipient of the massive prize.
The winner has a choice between receiving the money as an annuity over 30 years or opting for a cash option of $91.6 million. The next Powerball drawing on Monday, June 2, will be worth an estimated $20 million.
The winning numbers for the May 31 drawing were: 1, 29, 37, 56, 68, with the Powerball number being 13 and a Power Play of 2. Powerball is available in 45 states, along with Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, where players select five numbers from a pool of 69 and one Powerball number from a pool of 26. Tickets are priced at $2 each.
In an update about previous winners, the last major Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot winner from Michigan was the Breakfast Club lottery club. The winners plan to use their winnings to buy a home in Florida and travel.
Players are reminded to check their tickets promptly. A Powerball ticket worth $250,000 was sold in Bloomfield Hills in 2024, contributing to Michigan’s School Aid Fund.
