Cameron Brink Returns After 13-Month Injury Absence

LOS ANGELES, CA — After a long recovery from a torn ACL, Cameron Brink is set to return to the Los Angeles Sparks lineup. The 2024 WNBA Draft’s No. 2 overall pick was cleared to play after a 13-month absence, signaling a much-anticipated comeback.
Brink suffered the injury in June 2024, hurting her left knee during her rookie season. During a game against the Indiana Fever, Brink took a knock while driving to the basket, causing her leg to buckle. Since then, she has focused on her rehabilitation.
The Sparks’ coach, Lynne Roberts, announced that Brink would sit out the upcoming game against the Las Vegas Aces but expects her to join the team soon. Brink participated in on-court drills earlier this summer, gradually increasing her activity. She expressed gratitude for the Sparks organization’s support during her recovery.
“I feel great. I’m super thankful that the Sparks have let me take my time and really feel great coming back,” Brink stated after Saturday’s shootaround. Brink previously had indicated that she felt ready to return, mentioning, “I’ve put in a lot of hard work,” on an episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
During her limited time on the court in her rookie season, Brink averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game in just 15 appearances. Her impact was evident, and she quickly gained a reputation as a defensive powerhouse.
With the Sparks rolling into their next match with a five-game winning streak, Brink’s return adds an extra layer of excitement. The team currently stands at 11-14, just one game behind the Washington Mystics for a playoff spot.
Brink mentioned her eagerness, saying, “It’s a little nerve-wracking for sure,” regarding her return. She emphasized the importance of being patient during the transitional phase back to competitive play. Despite the challenges, she feels optimistic about resuming her contributions on the court.
Fans are eager to see Brink back in action, especially against the Aces, who currently hold the No. 7 seed in the standings. Brink’s presence will undoubtedly provide a boost to the Sparks as they navigate their playoff quest.
