Canon India Launches New Skill Centres In Delhi And Mumbai To Empower Youth

In an exciting new initiative, Canon India has opened two Skill Centres in Kapashera, Delhi, and Andheri East, Mumbai, aimed at empowering local youth. This initiative is in line with the Skill India mission, which focuses on improving skills and creating job opportunities for young people.

The training program is designed for individuals aged 18-25, especially those living in urban slums. It targets youth from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families who are not currently enrolled in education, employment, or training. Over the next five years, the program hopes to assist more than 2,500 young people.

Participants will be trained in various sectors that are in high demand, like Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI), Retail, IT services, E-commerce, and Quick Service Restaurants. The aim is to help them secure jobs with an average starting salary of INR 12,500.

During a 2.5-month training course, attendees will cover important skills such as English language proficiency, IT skills, and essential life skills. This training will encourage peer-to-peer learning and collaboration, helping them to gain confidence and prepare for job interviews.

Mr. Toshiaki Nomura, President & CEO of Canon India, shared his enthusiasm about the initiative, stating that empowering young individuals is essential for nation-building, and they are dedicated to providing the necessary support and resources.

Furthermore, Mr. C Sukumaran, Senior Director at Canon India, highlighted that they aim for 70% of the trained individuals to find jobs after completing their training. This initiative not only aims to increase their employability but also aims to uplift families and communities by providing sustainable income opportunities.
