Cathay Pacific Completes Wi-Fi and Entertainment Upgrade for Entire Fleet

Hong Kong, China – Cathay Pacific has announced a significant milestone, achieving full Wi-Fi and seat back entertainment on its entire fleet as of August 2025. This upgrade applies to all Airbus A350s, A330s, A321neos, and Boeing 777s.
While Cathay Pacific has long offered seat back entertainment, it is the installation of Wi-Fi that marks a notable achievement. The airline has gradually installed this service on all aircraft over the years, completing the project this month.
Though some might consider this upgrade less exciting, the combination of Wi-Fi and seat back entertainment is surprisingly rare among major airlines. For instance, Delta does not provide seat back entertainment on its Boeing 717s and Singapore Airlines has some Boeing 737-800s lacking inflight connectivity.
Passengers flying with Cathay Pacific can expect Wi-Fi availability, assuming it is operational. The airline utilizes Intelsat’s 2Ku satellite technology on most planes, ensuring solid speed and coverage. Pricing for Wi-Fi access is consistent, with no data caps. First and business class passengers, along with Diamond members, enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi.
However, many travelers express a desire for free Wi-Fi for all passengers, particularly in business class. Comments from passengers highlight frustrations about the lack of complimentary connectivity.
Cathay Pacific’s noteworthiness lies in its consistent offering of both Wi-Fi and entertainment on all flights. Whether or not the service fulfills the needs of every traveler, it marks a significant step forward in inflight connectivity.
