Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Seeks 90 New Bus Drivers and Technicians

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is actively hiring as it faces a pressing shortage of bus drivers and technicians. The district hosted a hiring event on Monday, aiming to recruit approximately 60 drivers and 30 technicians.
A spokesperson for CMS emphasized the importance of finding the right candidates for these crucial roles. ‘CMS bus drivers are amazing. We’d love for you to join our elite team. They’re positive. They’re supportive. They’re collaborative. They put students first; they take their job seriously, and they have fun with their coworkers,’ said Tom Miner, an operations specialist with CMS.
In addition to bus drivers and technicians, CMS is also seeking to hire office support staff for its transportation department. This initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency as the district continues to expand its services.
Transportation shortages have become a common issue for many school districts across the country, often due to a combination of factors including increased demand for bus services and a shrinking pool of available workers. As the school year progresses, CMS is urging community members to consider joining their transportation team.
