Chicago Fire Fc Vs Columbus Crew Match Preview

CHICAGO, IL – Chicago Fire FC will host Columbus Crew at Soldier Field on Saturday, Sept. 27, in a crucial Eastern Conference clash, coinciding with Hispanic Heritage Night, presented by Meridian.

The Fire, coming off a 3-0 victory against Minnesota United FC on Sept. 20, are eager to continue their momentum. Defender Joel Waterman and midfielder Dje D’Avilla each scored their first goals for the team, and Philip Zinckernagel added his league-leading 14th goal of the season.

As it stands, Chicago currently occupies the ninth and final postseason spot in the Eastern Conference with 45 points, two points ahead of the New York Red Bulls, who are in tenth. A victory on Saturday could significantly solidify their playoff chances.

Meanwhile, Columbus Crew arrives in Chicago following a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC, struggling to find form with only one win in their last seven matches. Despite this, they remain a tough opponent, positioned eighth in the conference with 50 points.

The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be available globally on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV, as well as being broadcast locally on (English) and Que Buena Fire via the Uforia App (Spanish).

Chicago’s head coach, Gregg Berhalter, recently celebrated his 200th MLS match, achieving his 80th victory, and is determined to rise into the top 20 of all-time wins with another win against Columbus. He emphasized the need for team adaptation and confidence going into the game.

With playoffs on the line, the Fire’s sharp performance in their last match offers hope, but they cannot underestimate a Crew side that has demonstrated resilience under pressure.
