Chicago Weather Forecast Cool Temperatures Showers

Chicago is experiencing a significant shift in weather as cooler temperatures and late afternoon showers are forecasted for the weekend. Following a period of warmer-than-normal conditions, the city is now seeing the effects of two cold fronts that have crossed the area.

The first cold front has already brought a noticeable cool change, and the second front is expected to reinforce this cool air with gusty northwest winds, particularly on Sunday. On Saturday, residents can expect mostly dry conditions with increasing cloud cover, but showers are anticipated to develop in the late afternoon, accompanied by some rumbles of thunder around sunset.

Sunday will be marked by windy and cooler conditions, with a high of 66 degrees and a few scattered showers. This weather pattern is also expected to set up favorable conditions for lake-effect rain showers in northwest Indiana from Sunday night through Tuesday.

Nightly frost or freeze is predicted for inland areas on Monday and Tuesday nights, indicating a clear transition into more autumnal weather. For Columbus Day, the forecast is windy and wet, with a high temperature of only 55 degrees.

As of the current forecast, Sunday evening is expected to be cloudy with off and on rain showers after midnight, and winds from the northwest at 15 to 25 mph. The chance of rain is estimated at 40%.
