Cobb Schools Achieve Top ACT Scores in Georgia for 2025

Cobb County, Georgia — Cobb Schools have once again surpassed state and national averages in ACT testing for 2025, achieving an average score of 23.7 out of a maximum of 36. This is a significant improvement from the previous year, where the average score was 22.8. Georgia’s statewide average is 21.4, while the national average stands at 19.4.
The consistently high scores reflect the collective efforts of teachers, parents, tutors, and district leadership. Cobb Schools Board Chair David Chastain stated, ‘Every time I hear about another student success story, it reminds me why Cobb is such a special place. Strong results like these don’t happen by accident; they come from a community working together to help our students reach their goals.’
This year, Cobb Schools ranked No. 1 among Metro Atlanta districts, outpacing Gwinnett, DeKalb, Marietta City, and Fulton County in ACT performance. Impressively, 12 Cobb Schools improved their scores from 2024.
Wheeler High School earned recognition with an average score of 28.5, placing it second in Georgia. Walton High School scored an average of 26.8, ranking seventh, while Pope High School achieved 18th place with an average of 25.1. Notably, eight students from the 2025 graduating class achieved a perfect score of 36, including students from Lassiter, Pope, Walton, and Wheeler High Schools.
In addition to ACT success, Cobb Schools continue to excel in SAT performance and graduation rates, with a 92.1% graduation rate for students who enrolled for at least one year and a rate of 99.2% for those who attended all four years. During the recent Board of Education meeting, Chief Strategy and Accountability Officer John Floresta emphasized the dedication of Cobb educators, stating, ‘Since 2015, you have been responsible for more than 100,000 students crossing graduation stages.’
Despite challenges faced by nearby districts, Cobb remains a leader in student achievement and academic excellence.
