Congress Plans Meeting with Russian Parliament on UFOs
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A U.S. congresswoman announced plans for a meeting with Russian parliament members to discuss unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican from Florida, mentioned the initiative during an interview on NewsNation last week.
The proposed bipartisan meeting aims to foster dialogue about UFOs and share information from both sides. Luna stated she has recently engaged with Russian government officials regarding the topic, though she did not reveal specifics about when or where the meeting will occur.
As of now, both the U.S. Congress and Russia’s State Duma have not officially confirmed these discussions. The remarks from Luna precede a House Oversight subcommittee hearing focusing on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). Journalist George Knapp noted during the hearing that the Soviet Union had previously attempted to reverse engineer UFOs in the Cold War era.
Luna, who is part of the Oversight Committee’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, referenced an earlier report from Russia’s state-run RIA Novosti. The report asserted that preparations were underway for a U.S.-Russia parliamentary meeting on neutral territory, though it did not specify the agenda.
In addition, Russian lawmakers have expressed interest in engaging with their American counterparts following a summit earlier this year between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Formal interactions between the U.S. Congress and Russia largely diminished after Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and have significantly decreased following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
