Controversy Surrounding National Testing Agency Chief’s Dismissal Amid NEET and NET Exams Scandal
The dismissal of Subodh Kumar Singh, the Chief of the National Testing Agency (NTA), by the Central Government has sparked a wave of controversy amidst allegations of irregularities in the NEET and NET exams.
Placed on ‘compulsory wait’ in the Department of Personnel and Training, Subodh Kumar Singh has been replaced by retired IAS officer Pradeep Singh Kharola, who will now serve as the Director General of the NTA overseeing exams like NEET, UGC-NET, CUET, and JEE (Main).
Pradeep Singh Kharola, a well-known figure to Amit Khare of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the Secretary of Civil Aviation.
The recent revelation of leakage of the NEET exam papers in some states has led to widespread protests and calls for accountability, resulting in the postponement of the NEET exam that was scheduled to take place on June 23.
The controversy further escalated with the NEET-UG results, where 67 candidates achieved a perfect score of 720/720, raising questions about the credibility of the examination process.
