Dexter: Resurrection Renewed for Second Season, Michael C. Hall Confirms

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Fans of the Dexter series received thrilling news as Showtime confirmed that “Dexter: Resurrection” will return for a second season. Star Michael C. Hall, who plays the titular character, announced the renewal via a video message this week.
“We’ve been greenlit for another season,” Hall expressed, thanking fans for their support and viewership during the first season. “The writers’ room is assembling now, and details will be forthcoming. But I wanted to be the first to let you know that the story continues.”
The first season of “Dexter: Resurrection” premiered on July 11, 2025, on Showtime and Paramount+. It quickly became the most streamed premiere for Showtime ever, attracting 4.4 million viewers within its first week across multiple platforms.
The show features a stellar cast, including Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, David Zayas, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suárez, and James Remar, with guest appearances from notable actors like Neil Patrick Harris and Krysten Ritter.
This new installment follows Dexter Morgan as he wakes from a coma only to find that his son, Harrison, has mysteriously vanished. The storyline is set shortly after Dexter is shot, adding urgency to his search for the truth.
“Dexter: Resurrection” marks the latest in the franchise, which includes the original “Dexter” series that aired for eight seasons before concluding in 2013, and a subsequent sequel, “Dexter: New Blood,” released in 2021. However, the earlier prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” was recently canceled after just one season.
Hall’s announcement and the upcoming season reflect a significant shift for the franchise, as it now positions “Dexter: Resurrection” as the main focus moving forward in the Dexter universe. Fans eagerly await more details on the anticipated return of Dexter Morgan.
