Double Dairy Recall: Tillamook Cheese Slices and Schreiber Cream Cheese Products Pulled from Shelves
Dairy lovers are being urged to check their refrigerators as two separate recalls have been initiated for popular dairy products from Aldi and Costco. Tillamook cheese slices and various cream cheese products from Schreiber Foods Inc. have been pulled from shelves due to potential contamination concerns.
The Oregon-based dairy co-op Tillamook took action after identifying plastic pieces in a limited quantity of its Monterey Jack Cheese sold at Costco. The affected twin-pack of cheese slices had a ‘Best If Used By’ date of October 22, 2024. Customers who purchased these products between May 9 and May 31, 2024, have been advised to return them to Costco for a full refund.
On the other hand, Schreiber Foods Inc., based in Wisconsin, has recalled over 836,000 units of cream cheese products due to possible salmonella contamination. Major retailers like Hy Vee, Kroger, and Aldi have distributed the affected cream cheeses across multiple states and Puerto Rico.
The recall impacts eight different cream cheese spreads sold under various supermarket brands like Dunkin, Dutch Farms, Happy Farms, Fareway, and Essential Everyday. Customers who have purchased these products are urged to either discard them immediately or return them to the store for a refund.
Salmonella infections can lead to symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Most people recover within a week without treatment, but certain groups, like children under five and older adults, may require medical attention. The CDC advises caution and prompt action for anyone who may have consumed the affected dairy products.
