Dylan Dreyer Game Show Grandmother

NEW YORK, NY — Dylan Dreyer shared a heartfelt family story on the Tuesday, October 7 episode of Today, revealing how her grandmother, Doris Milke, made history on The Price Is Right back in 1963.

During the broadcast, Dreyer recalled, “Yesterday, we were talking about how Dylan’s grandmother was on [the show]…we had to dig up the footage because [I] didn’t remember.” The segment included clips of Milke winning a staggering $72,769—an amount equivalent to about $700,000 today, as noted by Dreyer.

“I just miss her smile and her laugh,” Dreyer reflected after the clip aired. She described Milke as one of the most successful contestants in the show’s history.

Dreyer detailed the remarkable prizes her grandmother won, including a house in Florida, an ice cream truck, multiple fur coats, and two Jaguar cars. “They did sell the house in Florida, but my brother has some of the furniture from hers,” she added.

The Price Is Right originally premiered on NBC in 1956 before moving to ABC in 1963, and has been a CBS staple since 1972. Back when Milke was a contestant, she and others would continue on the show after each victory, unlike the current format.

Dreyer previously spoke about her grandmother’s legacy in July 2016, sharing her excitement over her grandmother’s winning streak after competing for six weeks. On this episode, Dreyer even took the nostalgic step of becoming a contestant, running up on stage when her name was called.

In a stroke of luck, she hit the $1 spot on her first try at the Big Wheel. “I swear, I have the video. That was my first try,” she told her colleagues, humorously noting her family’s fortunate history on the game show.
