Dyson Product Energy Labeling

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is set to hear comments from Dyson Inc. regarding proposed changes to America’s Energy Labeling Rule. This important hearing will take place at 1 p.m. ET on September 19, 2024.

The FTC had previously issued a notice on February 2, 2024, outlining several suggested amendments aimed at improving how energy labels are presented, particularly focusing on air cleaners and other consumer product categories.

While most of the 29 commenters opted for written submissions, Dyson stood out as the only company requesting a chance to voice its opinions in person. Their oral comments will specifically tackle concerns about the testing procedures put forth by the Department of Energy for these new air cleaner labels.

The notice for this hearing got a thumbs-up from the Commission, with a unanimous vote of 5-0. The lead staffer on this issue is Hong Park, who works in the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
