Chicago Sky Partners with Mamava to Provide Lactation Support at Wintrust Arena
The Chicago Sky, a professional women’s basketball team based in Chicago, has announced a new multi-year partnership with Mamava, a company specializing in lactation solutions. This collaboration aims to enhance lactation support for guests and employees at Wintrust Arena, the home court of the Chicago Sky.
Mamava, known for inventing the lactation pod, has generously donated two of their pods to be installed at Wintrust Arena. These pods provide a private and comfortable space for breastfeeding or pumping, and are equipped with a hospital-grade breast pump from Medela for users.
Last week, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Wintrust Arena to unveil the newly installed lactation pods. Both the Chicago Sky and Mamava expressed excitement about the partnership and its potential impact on breastfeeding parents.
As part of the agreement, the Chicago Sky and Mamava will work together over the next two seasons to raise awareness about the importance of public lactation infrastructure and support. This initiative underscores the idea that breastfeeding and pumping should be accommodated everywhere parents need to go.
Sascha Mayer, Co-founder of Mamava, shared her enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that Chicago has been a leader in lactation support awareness and infrastructure. Mamava has already placed pods in various key locations across the city, including major stadiums, airports, and Navy Pier.
Mamava’s lactation pods are designed to offer users a dignified, comfortable, and private space for breastfeeding or pumping. Access to these pods is facilitated through the Mamava app, which guides users to the nearest pod location and provides secure keyless entry for convenience.
Founded in 2013, Mamava is dedicated to transforming the culture of breastfeeding by providing innovative solutions for lactation needs. The company, based in Vermont, has successfully delivered thousands of lactation pods to a wide range of organizations, ranging from airports and hospitals to schools and businesses.
The Chicago Sky, as the 2021 WNBA Champion, continues to make strides in supporting women in sports. The team, founded in 2005 by principal owner Michael Alter, plays its home games at the Wintrust Arena, offering an empowering platform for female athletes in the WNBA.
