A tragic incident occurred today as fire engulfed the Household of David church located in the Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State, Nigeria. The church, which was set to host the Mercy Conference 2024, saw its auditorium go up in flames during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Lead Pastor Sola Osunmakinde, who was present at the church at the time of the incident, expressed deep sadness as they helplessly watched everything burn. Despite their efforts to reach the fire service, their arrival was delayed, resulting in extensive damage to the church’s interior.

No lives were lost in the incident, which comes as a relief to the church community. Pastor Sola remained optimistic, stating that the Mercy Conference would still proceed as planned, despite the devastating setback.

The Mercy Conference 2024 was expected to feature prominent ministers such as Moses Bliss, Dunsin Oyekan, Apostle Joshua Selman, Pastor Yemi David, Pastor Godman Alabi, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, and many others. These pastors have offered their support and prayers to Pastor Sola and the Household of David church.

The Lagos State Fire Service promptly responded to the incident, with spokesperson Amodu Shakiri explaining that the fire was caused by the auditorium ceiling overheating and collapsing, leading to the ignition. The authorities are currently managing the situation and working to minimize further damage.
