Gavin Lux Prepares for Intense Wild Card Showdown with Dodgers
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Gavin Lux is eager to face his old team in the National League Wild Card series on Tuesday. Lux, who was developed by the Dodgers’ farm system, had a solid regular season with the Cincinnati Reds, batting .269 with five home runs and 53 RBIs.
After a challenging stint with the Dodgers, the organization traded Lux to the Reds last winter. Reflecting on the past, he said, “I spent a decade here in this org. Really grateful for everything they did for me.” Lux is now focused on helping the Reds, who face the formidable Dodgers, a team they lost to five times in six encounters this season.
“We’re a totally different team now than we were,” Lux noted, referring to their shift in momentum. “I think we’ve been in that do-or-die mode now for over a month.”
Lux is not in the starting lineup for this game, as the Dodgers are starting left-hander Blake Snell. However, the anticipation remains high for him to showcase what the Dodgers may have overlooked.
Brent Suter, another key player for the Reds, expressed confidence about facing the Dodgers, saying, “We know they’re a good team… But we also know what an opportunity we have to come in here and play the defending World Series champs.”
This Wild Card series marks the first postseason appearance for the Reds since 2020. Manager Dave Roberts of the Dodgers acknowledged the challenge the Reds pose, emphasizing the importance of not underestimating them.
As the game approaches, both teams seem poised for an intense battle, and the excitement for this matchup continues to build. Lux added, “I’m ready to get out there and try to kick their you-know-whats.”
