Google Partners with Reliance to Boost AI Services for Jio Users
MUMBAI, India — Google has announced a strategic partnership with Reliance Intelligence to offer its AI Pro plan to eligible Jio Unlimited 5G users at no extra cost for 18 months. This initiative, which begins rolling out today, is targeted primarily at users aged 18 to 25, with plans to expand the offer to all Jio customers in the near future.
The partnership aims to provide enhanced access to Google’s advanced AI tools, including the latest Gemini 2.5 Pro model. Eligible Jio users can also take advantage of increased limits for generating AI images and videos, access to NotebookLM for research, and 2 TB of cloud storage across Google Photos, Gmail, and Drive, leading to a total value of approximately ₹35,100.
According to Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, this collaboration will empower users in India with cutting-edge AI tools. “Today’s announcement will put Google’s cutting-edge AI tools in the hands of consumers, businesses, and India’s vibrant developer community,” he stated.
This move aligns with Google’s strategy to grow its footprint in emerging markets like India, which has a rapidly expanding user base for internet and technology services. The partnership comes just weeks after Google provided free access to its AI services to Airtel‘s 360 million subscribers through another partnership.
The Jio lineup will not only allow individual consumers to use AI models but will also see Reliance’s AI subsidiary evolve by creating prebuilt AI agents for enterprises. Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, expressed hopes for making India an “AI-empowered” country, promising that this initiative aims to reach all citizens and businesses with intelligent services.
A similar push for AI adoption has been seen with OpenAI’s plans to offer services in India starting November 4. Experts believe that the current wave of free service offerings may significantly boost the overall acceptance of AI technology across the nation.
