Greene Claims Trump Fuels Threats After Losing Support
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said on Saturday that she has received warnings from private security firms about threats to her safety. This follows former President Donald Trump‘s announcement that he was withdrawing his support and endorsement of her after she supported a discharge petition regarding the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.
In a post on X, Greene stated, “a hotbed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world,” without naming Trump, whom she claims to have supported and helped elect.
Greene has openly criticized Trump’s actions, saying his decision to denounce her has led to harassment from his supporters. She expressed concern for her safety and drew parallels to the fear experienced by victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged crimes. “As a woman I take threats from men seriously,” Greene remarked, adding that she now has “a small understanding” of the pressure Epstein’s victims feel.
The political fallout represents an unprecedented break between Greene and Trump, which has escalated amid a debate on the release of additional Epstein files. Greene described the toxic environment of Trump’s supporters as “venomous,” noting that she feels betrayed after her loyalty to his legislative agenda.
In a recent social media response, Trump labeled Greene as a “ranting lunatic” and suggested she has moved “Far Left.” He hinted at endorsing a primary challenger for Greene in her Georgia district, further igniting concerns over her political future.
The tension between the two intensified when Greene, alongside three other Republicans, supported a petition to force a vote on the Epstein documents. She believes releasing the documents is essential for accountability and justice.
As their alliance collapses, Greene has voiced her belief that Trump’s disapproval is an attempt to intimidate other Republicans regarding the upcoming vote. Trump has dismissed the renewed push for Epstein documents, calling it a “hoax” created by Democrats.
