Greenland 2: Migration Trailer Unveils New Challenges for the Garrity Family

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The post-apocalyptic film Greenland 2: Migration is set to hit theaters on January 9, 2026. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, the sequel continues the journey of the Garrity family, portrayed by Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin, as they face new challenges five years after the catastrophic comet impact.

In the first film, Greenland, John Garrity, his estranged wife Allison, and their son Nathan fled from Atlanta just before fragments of a comet entered Earth’s atmosphere. They raced against time to reach underground bunkers in Greenland for safety, ultimately succeeding despite grave dangers.

The trailer for Greenland 2 reveals that the family’s struggles are far from over. Living in a subterranean bunker has taken its toll on their mental health, and environmental conditions above ground have worsened significantly. According to the newly released footage, the Garrity family must now contend with torrential weather and fireballs raining from the sky.

“We want to live again, with clean water and clean air,” John Garrity states in the trailer, emphasizing the urgency of leaving the bunker. Hope arises when officials hint at a potential safe haven located in southern France, within a massive crater left by the comet.

However, their journey is fraught with peril as they navigate radiation storms, unstable bridges, and the deteriorating world above. The race to a new home requires them to endure many hardships.

Morena Baccarin acknowledges the demanding nature of the film’s production, calling it the “hardest shoot of my life.” She describes her experience on set as physically and emotionally draining, yet believes in the quality of the story. “This family is trying to survive, and that’s why it got a sequel,” she said.

Producer Sébastien Raybaud hinted at the possibility of a third Greenland movie, stating in October 2024 that they were already considering further developments beyond Migration.
