Greenville County Schools Cancel Events Amid Winter Weather Concerns
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Greenville County Schools announced Wednesday that all field trips, athletic events, and activities scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been canceled due to anticipated winter weather. Officials are closely monitoring forecasts and will decide on Friday’s school schedule closer to the expected weather event.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the district said, “Greenville County Schools is actively monitoring the weather predictions for Friday. A decision about Friday’s school schedule will be made closer to the expected weather event, based on the most accurate forecast.” The district emphasized that the delay in making a final decision allows them to optimize student learning while minimizing disruptions for parents who rely on school schedules for childcare.
The district also confirmed that all Friday and Saturday events, including athletic competitions, have been canceled to ensure buses are available if an early dismissal becomes necessary. Schools will provide details on rescheduling affected events. Additionally, officials are considering moving Friday night events to Thursday night if conditions permit.
Parents and students are advised to stay updated through the district’s official communication channels. The district aims to announce its decision regarding Friday’s school schedule before Thursday’s dismissal.
