Hundreds of Students Hospitalized at Covenant University Due to Suspected Food Poisoning
Several hundred students from Covenant University in Ota, Nigeria have been admitted to hospitals after experiencing symptoms of food poisoning. The incidents have occurred in the university’s butteries, which are suspected to be the source of the food contamination. Multiple sources have confirmed that the university’s medical centre is overwhelmed with affected students seeking treatment.
Concerns have been raised over the university’s handling of the situation as parents and stakeholders have not received adequate communication regarding the incidents. Although one parent confirmed that their child was affected by the food poisoning but is recovering in the school, they expressed difficulties in reaching their child and obtaining information about the situation.
However, in response to these reports, the management of Covenant University swiftly denied the allegations and assured that all students are in good health. In a statement posted on the university’s official Facebook page, the management emphasized their focus on the students’ mental and physical well-being as they prepare for upcoming examinations.

We request our esteemed parents and guardians to pray along with their wards as they prepare for the forthcoming examinations.’
