Hyundai Palisade Ioniq 6 Vehicles Recall

Detroit, MI — Hyundai Motor America has announced a recall of nearly 600,000 vehicles in the United States, affecting a variety of models including the popular Palisade SUV and the IONIQ 6 electric vehicles. The recall was made public on September 12.

The recall impacts approximately 568,580 2020-2025 model year Palisade vehicles. Hyundai is addressing concerns over faulty seat belt buckles in both front and rear seats, which may fail to latch properly. Although the company estimates that only about 1% of the recalled vehicles are affected by this issue, it is proceeding with caution.

Hyundai has reported 546 complaints about the defective seat belt latches but confirmed that none of these reports resulted in accidents, injuries, or fatalities. Drivers may hear a lighter-than-normal “click” when fastening their seatbelts. Owners are advised to insert the seatbelt firmly into the buckle and pull to ensure security until repairs can be made.

For those affected, Hyundai will provide inspections and replacements for the seatbelt buckles at no cost. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by November 10, 2025. Customers can reach Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460, referencing recall number 283.

Additionally, Hyundai has issued a separate recall impacting 31,042 units of the 2023-2025 IONIQ 6 electric vehicles due to issues with the charging port door, which may detach. The same 1% estimate applies, and dealers will also inspect and repair this issue free of charge.

Owners of the IONIQ 6 can also expect notification letters by November 10, referencing recall number 282. Hyundai again emphasizes that these recalls are precautionary, as there have been only six reports regarding the charging port defect.

This is not Hyundai’s only recent recall. On the same day, the company announced a third recall for eight models related to improperly tightened fasteners that could loosen over time. Dealers will replace the bolts and align the wheels, with tire replacement if necessary, all at no charge.

If you have questions regarding any of the recalls, you may contact Hyundai customer service or call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
