International Women's Day Celebrated Worldwide With Special Focus On Women Empowerment

Today, the world is celebrating International Women's Day, honoring the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. On this occasion, Google has unveiled a special doodle created by the artist Sophie Taeuber. This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.’

In this unique doodle, three women representing different stages of life – a young girl, an elderly woman, and a middle-aged lady – are depicted, symbolizing the various phases from childhood to adulthood. The doodle’s color scheme reflects the history of Women’s Day.

In 1910, the first International Women’s Day was celebrated in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, during the ‘International Socialist Women’s Conference.’ The idea of honoring International Women’s Day was proposed with the aim of promoting a special day for women worldwide. The head of that conference, Clara Zetkin, a prominent communist leader, emphasized the need to address social issues concerning women collectively and advocate for women’s rights.
