Investigative Journalist David Hundeyin Allegedly Implicated in PIDOM Trial
David Hundeyin, an investigative journalist, has revealed that the Nigeria Police Force has declared him an accomplice in the ongoing trial of whistleblower Isaac Tamunobifiri, also known as PIDOM.
In an interview with News Central Television, Hundeyin stated that this declaration is connected to his commitment to truth-telling in an administration that perceives such actions as threats. He alleged that there were previous desperate attempts to invoke his involvement in a criminal investigation aimed at undermining his international refugee status.
Hundeyin further disclosed that in 2023, the National Intelligence Agency attempted to abduct him while he was abroad due to his exposure of misconduct involving several high-ranking government officials. These kidnappings reportedly occurred in Ghana and Kenya, prompting him to seek refuge in the United Kingdom.
“There were several attempts by the National Intelligence Agency to abduct me,” Hundeyin explained. “This is the cost of standing up for the truth in a regime that sees it as an affront.”
When questioned about his declaration as an accomplice in PIDOM’s trial, Hundeyin expressed that he had anticipated this situation, which is why he took proactive measures by being transparent in his dealings.
He mentioned instances of attempted hacking on his devices, which confirmed his suspicions of state security efforts to implicate him in a criminal investigation, ultimately aimed at discrediting him and other whistleblowers.
In addition, Hundeyin highlighted the deteriorating condition of PIDOM, who he claims was subjected to harmful treatment while in custody, affecting his ability to breathe properly.
According to reports, both Hundeyin and another individual, Michael Alade, were named as accomplices in crimes including leaking classified documents and fraud connected to PIDOM, which has drawn significant public attention.
