Jack Smith Allegedly Tracked GOP Senators’ Phone Calls During January 6 Probe

Washington, D.C. — Former Special Counsel Jack Smith reportedly tracked the private communications of nearly a dozen Republican senators during his investigation into the events of January 6, 2021. A document recently reviewed by Fox News Digital outlines the alleged surveillance, which included phone calls and communications tied to GOP leaders.
The senators allegedly monitored include Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, and Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania. The document, dated September 27, 2023, is titled “CAST Assistance” and refers to the FBI’s Cellular Analysis Survey Team, known as CAST.
An FBI official confirmed to Fox News Digital that Smith’s team was able to see phone numbers called, as well as locations for both the origin and reception of the calls. A source suggested that these communications related to the 2020 election certification process.
The records were reportedly acquired after Smith’s team subpoenaed major telephone providers. The “Arctic Frost” case was initiated on April 13, 2022, and Smith took over as special counsel in November 2022.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and FBI Director Kash Patel are expected to brief the affected senators on Capitol Hill about the discovery. Bongino expressed concern over the surveillance, stating, “It is a disgrace that I have to stand on Capitol Hill and reveal this… that the FBI was once used to track the private communications of U.S. lawmakers for political purposes. That era is over.”
Patel echoed Bongino’s sentiment, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability regarding the FBI’s actions. He stated, “The American people deserve the truth, and under my leadership, they will have it.”
The investigation involving Trump, which has reportedly cost taxpayers over $50 million, has prompted significant scrutiny over the FBI’s practices and the use of federal resources.
