Jimmi Simpson Joins Cast of The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3
BOSTON, Massachusetts — Jimmi Simpson, known for his role in the HBO series Westworld, has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming third season of AMC‘s The Walking Dead: Dead City. The announcement was made on September 24, 2025, as production continues in Boston.
Simpson will portray a character named Dillard, although details about his role remain undisclosed. Season 3 will follow Maggie (played by Lauren Cohan) and Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as they navigate a dangerous and chaotic post-apocalyptic Manhattan.
The storyline picks up after Season 2, where Maggie and Negan found themselves on opposite sides of a power struggle in the city. Their paths will intertwine as they attempt to form a thriving community amidst the turmoil.
“It’s going to be more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined,” said showrunner Seth Hoffman, who took over the series after the previous season. He aims to deepen the psychological aspects of the characters.
Simpson’s character Dillard is expected to influence the dynamics between Maggie and Negan. Meanwhile, Aimee Garcia, known for her work on Lucifer, has also been confirmed as a series regular, portraying Renata, a charismatic leader.
Simpson’s previous work includes various roles in films and series such as Dark Matter, Psych, House of Cards, and Black Mirror. His talent and versatility are anticipated to add depth to the new season of Dead City.
Filming for Season 3 commenced earlier this month, continuing the franchise’s legacy despite the conclusion of the original Walking Dead series in 2022.
