Kathy Bates Matlock Season 2

NEW YORK, NY — Kathy Bates is back for Season 2 of “Matlock,” which premiered on Sunday, Oct. 12. The reboot of the classic series has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following since its debut last year. This CBS series, created by Jennie Snyder Urman of “Jane the Virgin” fame, stars Bates as Madeline Matlock, a modern take on the defense attorney role originally made famous by Andy Griffith.

Season 2 kicks off with a special Sunday premiere at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, followed by regular episodes airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Viewers can look forward to the second episode on Oct. 16, titled “Another Matlock.” The series is also available for streaming on Paramount+, with different release times based on subscription types.

The premiere episode starts with Matty questioning the paternity of a man claiming to be Alfie’s father, while her team tackles an arson case. As Matty navigates her complicated friendship with Olympia, portrayed by Skye P. Marshall, the stakes rise in their joint investigation into the Wellbrexa scandal, which highlights issues from the opioid crisis.

“Matlock” continues to dive deeper into the dramatic narrative from the first season, where it was revealed that Julian, Olympia’s ex-husband, was involved in hiding evidence related to the opioid epidemic that cost Matty her daughter. This season’s overarching themes center around personal and professional conflicts as Matty and Olympia balance their work with their moral dilemmas.

Fans can expect exciting twists as the season unfolds, including episodes featuring new characters and guest stars. Episode 3 will air on Oct. 23 at 8/7c and will also introduce more storylines intersecting with the main plot.
