Kyle Clifford Charged with Triple Murder in Hertfordshire
Lisa Ramsarran, the Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Thames and Chiltern, has announced that the Crown Prosecution Service has authorized Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge Kyle Clifford with three counts of murder. The charges follow the deaths of Carol, Louise, and Hannah Hunt in Bushey on Tuesday, July 9.
Mr. Clifford, aged 26, was located by police in Enfield and has additionally been charged with two counts of possession of an offensive weapon and one count of false imprisonment. The incident has left a community in mourning, and Ramsarran conveyed sympathies, stating, “Our thoughts remain with the Hunt family and all those who have been affected by this tragic incident.”
She further emphasized the importance of refraining from actions that could impact the fairness of the trial, noting that “as criminal proceedings are active, there should be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online that could prejudice the defendant’s right to a fair trial.”
The Hunt family members were attacked in their home on Ashlyn Close. Carol Hunt and her daughters, Louise and Hannah, were tragically killed. Carol’s husband, John Hunt, a BBC Commentator, and their third daughter, Amy, were not present at the time of the attack. Clifford was discovered injured the following day in Lavender Hill Cemetery in Enfield.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed today that Clifford has been charged with the murders of the three women. He appeared before Westminster Magistrate’s Court earlier today to face the charges.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner of the BCH Major Crime Unit expressed condolences to the Hunt family and highlighted the diligent investigative efforts, saying, “Over the past couple of months, we have been working hard to gather as much evidence as possible and establish the full circumstances of what happened that day. We have now managed to secure charges against Kyle Clifford in connection with the murders of Carol, Hannah, and Louise Hunt.”
Gardner added, “Although it has taken some time to reach this stage, we can now move forward with the judicial process and seek justice for their family.”
