Kyrie Mcalpin Will Trent Season 3 Sunny

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Kyrie McAlpin, known for her roles in ‘Birdie‘ and ‘Cheaper By The Dozen,’ has joined the cast of ABC‘s crime drama ‘Will Trent‘ for its third season in a recurring role. McAlpin will debut in tonight’s episode as Sunny, a resourceful tween navigating life as the daughter of a criminal now under the care of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation‘s deputy director.

Based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling ‘Will Trent’ book series, the show follows Special Agent Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez), a GBI agent with a troubled past who uses his unique perspective to solve crimes. The series, which airs Tuesdays on ABC and streams on Hulu, has maintained a strong following since its premiere in 2023.

McAlpin’s character, Sunny, adds a new dynamic to the show’s ensemble cast, which includes Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood, and Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner. Gina Rodriguez joins the cast this season as Marion Alba, while Scott Foley debuts as Dr. Seth McDale, Angie’s new romantic interest.

Executive producers Liz Heldens and Daniel Thomsen, who also serve as showrunners, praised McAlpin’s addition to the cast. ‘Kyrie brings a fresh energy and depth to the show,’ Heldens said. ‘Her portrayal of Sunny will resonate with audiences as she navigates the complexities of her character’s situation.’

McAlpin, a rising star in Hollywood, has previously appeared in projects such as ‘Blackjack Christmas,’ ‘Doug Unplugs,’ and ‘Cheaper By The Dozen.’ Her performance in ‘Birdie’ earned her the Audience Award at the 2020 Deadcenter Film Festival.

Season 3 of ‘Will Trent’ promises to delve deeper into the personal and professional lives of its characters, with 18 episodes scheduled. The show continues to explore themes of justice, resilience, and redemption, anchored by Rodríguez’s compelling portrayal of the titular character.
