Linden Woman Wins $3 Million Mega Millions Prize in Michigan

LANSING, MI — A 58-year-old resident of Linden, Pamela Dietrich, scored a $3 million prize in the Mega Millions drawing on April 11. The win comes after she felt a strong urge to play the lottery that week.
Dietrich, who does not play consistently, purchased her ticket through the Michigan Lottery website. “I logged into my Lottery account and purchased a ticket,” she said. The following morning, she received an email from the Lottery informing her of her winnings.
“I had a hard time believing it when I saw I had won $3 million! I called the Lottery first thing Monday morning to verify that it was real and schedule an appointment to claim my big prize,” Dietrich added.
She matched all five white numbers drawn — 15, 37, 38, 56, and 58 — to win the standard $1 million prize. However, changes made to the Mega Millions game introduced an automatic multiplier, increasing her total to $3 million.
“Congratulations to Pamela, the first player in Michigan to become a millionaire playing the new Mega Millions game,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. The enhanced game, she said, brings better odds and larger prizes for non-jackpot tiers, benefiting players.
Dietrich plans to remodel her home, buy a new car, and save the remaining money. This win follows the previous lottery success of the Breakfast Club, a Michigan lottery club that won a Mega Millions jackpot recently. Players are reminded to check their tickets, as one Powerball winner from Bloomfield Hills won $250,000 earlier this year.
