2025 Little League World Series Kicks Off with Exciting Matchups

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The 2025 Little League World Series kicked off this week, featuring some of the nation’s best young baseball and softball players. This year’s tournament will run from August 13 to 24, marking its 78th anniversary since its inception in 1947.

The Little League Baseball World Series (LLBWS) will host 20 teams, while the Little League Softball World Series (LLSWS) will have 12 teams competing. The LLSWS kicked off in Greenville, North Carolina, on August 6, with games continuing through August 10.

In the LLSWS, the Central Region from Indiana triumphed over the Latin America Region 2-0, thanks to an impressive performance by pitcher Briley Mercer. Mercer struck out eight batters over six innings, while Reese Carroll’s hit brought in the game-deciding run.

Southeast Region‘s Lake Mary Little League from Florida also secured a win, defeating Northwest’s Mill Creek Little League 5-3 in a game that featured an exciting four-run seventh inning.

As the tournament progresses, the LLBWS will begin on August 13 in Williamsport, with games culminating in the U.S. and International finals on August 23, followed by the championship on August 24. Local fans and visitors from around the world are expected to flock to the event, celebrating the growth and spirit of young athletes.

The MLB Little League Classic will take place on August 17, showcasing a matchup at historic Bowman Field. Fans can expect extensive coverage of the games, including marathon streaming options.
