Marjorie Taylor Greene Trump Resignation

Atlanta, Georgia — Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Republican congresswoman from Georgia, announced her resignation on Friday, stating it was due to an unfair and wrong response from Donald Trump after she disagreed with him.

In her resignation statement posted on social media, Greene emphasized that loyalty should be mutual. She expressed disappointment over Trump’s withdrawal of his support and endorsement, labeling it as a betrayal.

Trump responded to Greene’s announcement by expressing approval during an interview with ABC News. ‘I think it’s great news for the country. It’s great,’ he said. When asked if Greene had informed him of her decision, Trump replied, ‘Nah, it doesn’t matter, you know, but I think it’s great. I think she should be happy.’

Greene also revealed that she has faced significant personal threats since Trump distanced himself from her. She highlighted the intense scrutiny she endured, including death threats and slander. ‘Most people could never withstand even for a day,’ Greene said regarding the negative attention she received.

Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett noted on social media, ‘I didn’t see this coming but the threats that come with being on the opposite side of Trump ARE REAL!’

The political landscape reacted with surprise to Greene’s resignation. Republican strategist Shermichael Singleton referred to the situation as ‘a big shocker,’ suggesting Greene might be looking toward future political opportunities.

Greene may find an ally in Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna, who has collaborated with her on legislation concerning Jeffrey Epstein. Khanna stated, ‘MTG is likely to be a formidable 2028 candidate.’

As observers reflected on the unusual circumstances of a Trump ally resigning so soon after their disagreement, Malcolm Kenyatta, a vice chair for the Democratic National Committee, remarked on social media, ‘Trump glazed Mamdani so hard Marjorie Taylor Greene resigned from Congress.’

In response to the news, Georgia Democrat Shawn Harris urged supporters to prepare for the upcoming election: ‘Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced her resignation effective January 5, 2026. Get ready Georgia!’

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Greene’s fallout with Trump might increase her national profile.
