Marvel X Men Mister Sinister Apocalypse

LOS ANGELES, CA — Marvel Studios is reportedly considering popular X-Men villains Mister Sinister and Apocalypse as major characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after the upcoming ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ Jake Schreier, known for his work on ‘Thunderbolts,’ is set to direct the forthcoming X-Men reboot.

The rumor comes from scooper Daniel Richtman, who indicated that the next saga may feature Apocalypse and Mister Sinister in significant roles, akin to how Thanos and Doctor Doom were portrayed. Though Marvel has yet to announce casting details, Richtman mentioned that the studio has some potential actors in mind for these two iconic villains.

In addition to this, Richtman noted that Ryan Reynolds is developing his own mutants team-up film for the upcoming saga. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige highlighted in July 2025 that the central focus of the new X-Men series would be Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, a setting meant to explore the challenges faced by young individuals who feel out of place.

Feige stated, ‘That’s the universal story of mutants, and that is where we’re going.’ Jake Schreier also commented in August, expressing excitement about the start of work on the X-Men project but refraining from sharing any specific details.

As for the timeline, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is scheduled for a 2027 release, while the X-Men reboot is aimed for a 2028 debut. The anticipation for this new direction in the Marvel franchise has fans eager to see how these beloved characters will be integrated into the MCU.
