Promiseland Festival 2024

The Promiseland festival, a three-day modern R&B event scheduled to occur this weekend, has faced unexpected challenges as one of its major performers, Miguel, announced he will not be participating. Miguel cited an urgent family matter as the reason for his withdrawal from the performance slated for tomorrow.

In a statement provided by festival organizers, Miguel expressed his disappointment, saying, “Hey Australia, I was so excited to come down and perform for you at Promiseland but due to an urgent family matter I unfortunately cannot come and perform. See you next year.”

Miguel, an American singer-songwriter, has been noted for his exceptional vocal talent, often likened to iconic artists such as Prince and Babyface. He has collaborated with renowned musicians including Travis Scott, Mariah Carey, and Calvin Harris. Fans were anticipating his performance, as it would have been his first return to Australia since 2018.

The festival organizers have confirmed Jamaican musician Masego will replace Miguel. This change comes alongside issues earlier when another headliner, Asake, also faced uncertainties in performing. Asake was originally meant to headline on Sunday, October 6, alongside Busta Rhymes and Omah Lay.

Despite these setbacks, Promiseland 2024 continues to boast a strong lineup, including acts such as Metro Boomin, Jorja Smith, REMA, and Headie One, with British rapper J Hus being added in June.

Emal Naim, co-director of Promiseland Festival, had expressed high hopes for the event earlier in the year, stating, “With this lineup, we firmly believe Promiseland cements itself as a festival staple in Australia; we’re proud of what we’ve done in [2022] and [2023], and can’t wait to deliver a global festival standard to Australian fans this October long weekend.”
