Missouri Woman Graceland Fraud Court Case

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Missouri woman charged with mail fraud for an alleged scheme involving Elvis Presley’s Graceland is expected to change her plea to guilty. Lisa Jeanine Findley faces federal charges that accuse her of attempting to auction off the singer’s estate and property without authorization.

Findley’s initial plea was not guilty, but court documents indicate a new plea could be entered at a scheduled hearing on Tuesday. The hearing will take place at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.

According to the charges, Findley devised a plan to sell the famous mansion, claiming it was in foreclosure, which prompted legal scrutiny when a judge intervened to halt any potential sale. Federal investigators uncovered the fraudulent scheme after receiving tips about irregularities regarding the mansion’s ownership.

In the court filings, prosecutors outlined multiple efforts by Findley to advertise the sale online, reportedly targeting unwitting buyers who were unaware of the legitimate ownership held by Elvis Presley Enterprises. The case has drawn considerable attention, reflecting concerns over real estate fraud in high-profile cases.

A source close to the investigation, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated, “This case highlights an alarming trend where individuals try to exploit the history and popularity of iconic landmarks for personal gain.”

If Findley pleads guilty, she could face significant prison time along with financial penalties. Legal experts indicate that her cooperation with authorities may also influence the final outcomes of potential sentencing.

Presley, who is considered one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, passed away in 1977, but Graceland continues to draw thousands of visitors each year. The verification of any legal activity surrounding his estate is closely monitored to protect its legacy and integrity.
