Montgomery County Public Schools Seek Parent Feedback on Cell Phone Policies and Announce Various Initiatives
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is currently seeking feedback from parents regarding the implementation of cell phone policies in schools. This initiative aims to gather insights from the community to help shape the guidelines for cell phone use among students. Parents are encouraged to participate and provide their perspectives on how cell phones should be managed in the educational environment.
In addition to the cell phone policy feedback, MCPS is also highlighting several other initiatives. At Watkins Mill High School, the school is offering free flu shots for all students and any uninsured siblings through its Wellness Center. Parents can make appointments or fill out the enrollment packet online or by visiting the health room.
The school is also promoting its Child Development Program, which provides a unique educational experience for preschool children and high school students. The program is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year, and children must be toilet trained to participate.
Furthermore, MCPS has transitioned to a new online payment system called SchoolCash Online, which is the preferred method for paying school-related fees such as fundraisers, field trips, and obligations. Parents can find more information and instructions on the MCPS website.
The Educational Resource Support Center (ERSC) will be closed from November 26 to December 2 for a systemwide closure and the Thanksgiving holiday. This closure is part of the school system’s scheduled breaks.
Additionally, MCPS is reminding families about the “Kids Ride Free” program, where students can ride free on Metro buses using the Youth Cruiser SmarTrip card. This card is available at MCPS middle and high school locations and Montgomery County Public libraries.
