Multiple Fires Erupt in San Diego, Prompting Evacuations and Firefighter Injuries
San Diego has been hit by multiple fires in the past 48 hours, leading to evacuations, property damage, and injuries to firefighters. On October 30, a house fire in Rancho Bernardo resulted in a firefighter being injured as crews worked to extinguish the blaze. The incident involved the San Diego Fire Rescue Department, which responded quickly to contain the fire.
In a separate incident on October 31, a brush fire broke out in the East County area near the intersection of state Routes 125 and 54, close to Spring Valley. The fire, which started as a small blaze, quickly spread and charred more than one acre of land by 1:30 PM. Mandatory evacuations were ordered for several areas, including those near Leigh Avenue and Spring Canyon Drive. Evacuees were directed to gather at the gym of Mt. Miguel High School.
Cal Fire deployed two firefighting helicopters to assist the San Miguel Fire & Rescue ground crews in battling the Spring Valley fire. The rapid spread of the fire and the need for immediate action underscored the urgency of the situation.
Another vegetation fire was reported near the College Area of San Diego, though details on this fire are less extensive. Firefighters are actively working to control the blaze and prevent further spread.
