Norm Lewis Drama Desk Awards Announcement

NEW YORK CITY, NY — Norm Lewis, a Tony Award-nominated actor, is set to announce the nominees for the 69th Annual Drama Desk Awards on April 30 at 12:50 PM ET. The announcement will air on Spectrum News NY1.

Lewis, known for his roles in productions like Porgy and Bess and The Phantom of the Opera, will be accompanied by Frank DiLella, host of On Stage, and Rocco Vertuccio, an anchor at NY1. The Drama Desk Awards recognize the excellence of productions from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway.

This year, the awards continue their tradition of gender-free performance categories, which include Outstanding Lead Performance in a Play and Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical. All nominees will be considered in the same categories, regardless of their respective productions.

The full list of nominees for the 2025 Drama Desk Awards will be featured at the ceremony on June 1, 2025, held at NYU’s Skirball Center. This year, the ceremony will be hosted by Debra Messing and Tituss Burgess.

Proceeds from the ceremony will benefit the Entertainment Community Fund, marking a commitment to support the theater community. The Drama Desk is co-presided by David Barbour and Charles Wright, with a nominating committee led by Martha Wade Steketee.

As part of its mission, the Drama Desk aims to honor all parts of New York’s vibrant theater scene, promoting diversity and inclusiveness.

The nominees will be revealed shortly, generating excitement in anticipation of the upcoming ceremony.
