Over 260,000 Candidates Sit For Mock Utme Across Nigeria

On the 7th of March 2024, a massive number of 260,000 candidates embarked on the Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across 793 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers in Nigeria.

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the exercise after personally overseeing several centers in the capital city of Abuja.

Oloyede highlighted the purpose of the exam as a preparatory measure for the main UTME, set to commence on Friday, the 19th of April 2024.

Additionally, JAMB successfully administered a recruitment examination for the Nigerian Police on the previous day, further emphasizing the efficiency of the exam body’s operations. Despite a few minor incidents recorded during the Mock UTME at around four centers, Oloyede assured that these issues would be promptly addressed.

Speaking on the overall progress, the JAMB Registrar shared, “So far so good, we are doing mock after mock, just yesterday we conducted recruitment for the Police Service Commission throughout the country, that was a mock before today’s mock and that was in 411 centers across the country, and today we are conducting our own mock in 793 centers across the country. So far, we have about three or four places where they have one issue or the other, but we are trying to get over that. So, it is a good one, even those three (where there are issues), we will have a way of accommodating them even if they go down completely. But everything is going on well and the reports we have, are that we are very okay,” indicating the successful management of the examination.

Further details revealed that out of the 1.98 million candidates registered for the main 2024 UTME, over 260,000 participated in the mock examination, reflecting a significant level of preparedness for the upcoming main examination.
