U.s. Army 250th Birthday Celebration Parade

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A massive parade will take place in Washington, D.C., on June 14 to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday, coinciding with President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. The event promises to bring large crowds, traffic disruptions, and a festive atmosphere filled with fireworks and military displays.

More than 1,000 troops will march in the evening parade, representing every U.S. conflict since the Revolutionary War of 1775. Troops in period costumes will be followed by modern soldiers in battle dress uniforms, reflecting the Army’s rich history. The parade will also feature over 100 military vehicles, including tanks and helicopters, as specified in an Army handout.

The festivities will kick off with an Army Fitness Competition from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the National Mall, followed by an Army Birthday Festival open to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The parade officially starts at 6:30 p.m., with a concert and fireworks planned afterward.

Entry for festival attendees is set to begin at 8 a.m., while those attending the parade can enter starting at 2 p.m. The events are free and open to the public, but attendees should note that no tickets are required. The parade will proceed along Constitution Avenue from 23rd Street NW to 15th Street NW, with no official seating available.

As part of enhanced security measures, the event is designated as a National Special Security Event (NSSE) due to its potential significance for terrorism or criminal activity. The Secret Service has coordinated safety plans that include three entry checkpoints for the public. D.C. law enforcement has also issued a list of prohibited items, including large bags and bicycles.

Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation to navigate the city, as streets around the National Mall will be closed, and parking is likely to be limited. The Federal Aviation Administration will also impose restrictions on flights to accommodate airshows and fireworks during the parade.

The parade’s expected costs, including street repairs and security, have raised concerns, with estimates nearing $40 million. However, U.S. military leaders emphasize the importance of celebrating the Army’s long history of service, despite the cost.

Trump is slated to deliver remarks commemorating the Army’s legacy during the parade. The event is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest celebrations, highlighting the Army’s importance in American history.
