PNW Faculty and Students Embrace Mathematics on International Math Day
Students and faculty at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) recently came together to celebrate International Math Day, showcasing their enthusiasm for mathematics and its applications.
The PNW Mathematics and Statistics Club, led by President Gowrisree Juttiga, organized a variety of engaging activities to mark the occasion, including math puzzles, trivia, calculus with Kahoot, card games, and probability bingo. Over 100 members of the campus community attended the event, highlighting the importance of celebrating mathematicians’ achievements and inspiring a new generation of problem-solvers.
According to the chair for the department of Mathematics and Statistics and interim chair for the department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering, the club’s celebration of International Mathematics Day was exceptional. They commended the club for crafting an event that highlighted the global significance of mathematics and statistics, showcasing both the aesthetic beauty and practical applications of these fields.
The PNW Mathematics and Statistics Club, established in 2022, is known for organizing various activities such as guest talk series by alumni and students, as well as movie nights. Through these initiatives, club members aim to inspire a passion for mathematics and statistics among their peers and the wider community.
