The Rainmaker Premieres to Strong Ratings on USA Network

NEW YORK, NY — The new legal drama “The Rainmaker” has made a notable debut, garnering 2.2 million viewers in its first three days. The series, part of a forthcoming cable portfolio, launched as a simulcast across five networks and Peacock, contributing to its strong performance.
This premiere marks the highest viewership for an original series debut in the Versant portfolio since Syfy‘s “Resident Alien” in 2021. According to Versant, the show has become the number one scripted cable original series premiere on linear TV in 2025, attracting 39% more viewers than TNT’s “Librarians: Next Chapter,” the second most-watched premiere this year.
<p"The Rainmaker," adapted from John Grisham‘s novel, follows the journey of Rudy Baylor, played by Milo Callaghan, a young lawyer confronting courtroom giant Leo Drummond, portrayed by John Slattery. The show also features Madison Iseman, Lana Parrilla, and P.J. Byrne, who delve into conspiracies tied to their client’s death.
Michael Seitzman serves as the showrunner and executive producer. The project received a series order from NBCUniversal in June 2024, culminating a six-year effort by Seitzman to adapt the beloved book.
To date, “The Rainmaker” has reached a cumulative audience of 6.3 million viewers on linear TV. Future episodes will continue to air weekly on the USA Network, offering viewers more legal thrills and courtroom drama.
