Randy Travis Foundation Buys Closed Burlington Store in Jackson

Jackson, Mississippi — The Randy Travis Foundation has purchased the former Burlington Coat Factory building located in the Metrocenter Mall, which has been closed since 2018. According to a deed acquired by the Clarion Ledger, the property was acquired from MagCor Industries on March 14.
The foundation, which aims to raise awareness for viral cardiomyopathy and support arts programs for children, has not provided specific details about the purchase. Spokesperson Zach Farnum stated, “The Travises were involved in the purchase of a commercial property in Mississippi with a group of people. Currently, there are no active plans to develop anything related to Randy Travis on the site.”
Farnum declined to comment further on the reasons behind the foundation’s interest in the location. Key pieces of information about the transaction, including the purchase price and any future plans for the site, remain undisclosed. While some reports speculate about the possibility of a Randy Travis-themed store or travel center, Farnum has denied these claims.
Randy Travis, a prominent country music star known for hits like “Forever and Ever, Amen,” has faced health challenges since suffering a massive stroke in 2013 due to viral cardiomyopathy. After a lengthy recovery, Travis has been an advocate for awareness surrounding this condition and the foundation reflects his commitment to the cause.
The Metrocenter Mall, once a thriving shopping destination, has seen a steady decline since its peak in the late 1990s. Burlington closed its doors in 2022, one of the last retailers left in the once-popular mall. Now, the city is undergoing various legal disputes regarding leased properties as they adapt to changing urban landscapes.
The future of the Burlington building and the foundation’s next steps remain uncertain as Travis continues to inspire through his music and advocacy.
