Roger Waters Critiques Ozzy Osbourne After His Death

LONDON, UK — In a recent interview, former Pink Floyd leader Roger Waters revealed he was never a fan of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away earlier this year.
This statement follows numerous tributes paid to ‘The Prince of Darkness’ by various artists, celebrating Osbourne’s significant influence on rock music.
Waters expressed his indifference towards Osbourne’s work, including his time with Black Sabbath. He shared his thoughts on Osbourne’s health issues before his death, saying, “Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him in his whatever that state that he was in his whole life. We’ll never know. The music, I have no idea. I couldn’t give a fuck.”
The former Pink Floyd frontman criticized Osbourne’s antics on the reality show, The Osbournes, calling it “idiocy.” He also commented negatively on Black Sabbath’s music, saying, “I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did. Have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.”
Waters referred to a notorious event in Osbourne’s solo career where he bit the head off a dove and mistakenly bit a bat, thinking it was a toy. Despite Waters’ harsh criticisms, Osbourne had often expressed admiration for Pink Floyd, ranking ‘Money’ among his all-time favorite rock songs.
In past interviews, Osbourne praised the Pink Floyd soundtrack album Obscured By Clouds, claiming they never made a bad record. Similarly, Waters has dismissed Black Sabbath’s debut single ‘Evil Woman,’ calling it underwhelming.
Regardless of Waters’ opinion, Osbourne’s legacy as a rock titan remains undisputed. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for both Black Sabbath and his solo career. His final show, Back to the Beginning, showcased his enduring status in hard rock, surrounded by fellow rock luminaries.
