Scotland Football Fan Takes on Extreme Darkness Challenge to Raise Mental Health Awareness
A dedicated Scotland football fan, Steve Davie from Port Seton, is embarking on an extreme seven-day solo challenge in complete darkness to raise money for Enter Holistic Healing, a mental health charity. This challenge marks the launch of Enter Holistic Healing, emphasizing the support it will provide for those facing mental health struggles.
Steve, who has been attending Scotland national games since 1998 when he first traveled to France, will miss two major matches for the first time as he immerses himself in a unique fundraising effort. Instead of joining thousands of fans in Germany for the Euro 2024 games, he will enter seven days of complete darkness at the Gut Saunstorf Monastery.
During this period, Steve will be isolated in a 10m2 room with only basic amenities such as a bed, armchair, and wardrobe. He will be served two meals daily and have the option for brief counseling sessions. The aim is to highlight the importance of mental health awareness and demonstrate the journey towards finding light in dark times.
Steve’s personal experiences with mental health challenges have inspired him to take on this extreme darkness retreat. He hopes to showcase that it is possible to overcome inner demons with the right tools and support. Through this fundraiser, he aims to help others facing similar struggles and show them that there is hope even in the darkest moments.
Enter Holistic Healing, the charity Steve co-founded, will use the funds raised from this challenge to launch a pilot program benefiting individuals experiencing stress and anxiety. The program will offer holistic health and education courses, focusing on modalities like sound healing and meditation to improve mental well-being.
