Dallas Fort Worth Severe Thunderstorm Warning

DALLAS, Texas — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the DallasFort Worth area as storms move eastward, bringing heavy rain and potential tornadoes.

At approximately 8:25 p.m. on October 24, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported a severe thunderstorm over Hudson Oaks near Weatherford, moving east at 30 mph. The storm is expected to affect Weatherford, Willow Park, Aledo, and surrounding areas around 8:30 p.m.

The NWS warned, “Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees” due to wind gusts of up to 60 mph associated with the storm. A flash flood warning has also been issued for Wise County, advising residents to avoid flooded roads.

Motorists have been warned to drive cautiously at night, as visibility is reduced during storms. An airport weather warning is in place for the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, as lightning is possible until 11 p.m.

Earlier tonight, a tornado warning was issued for northeastern Parker County. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was reported over Weatherford at about 7:40 p.m. Damage to mobile homes and vehicles has already been reported due to strong winds.

Despite a recent weakening of the storm, the NWS continues to monitor its progress as it moves into Tarrant County. A tornado warning for Central Palo Pinto County was lifted around 6:20 p.m., with a reminder for residents to take cover.

Counties under a severe thunderstorm watch include Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, and Johnson, among others. The most intense storms are expected to persist overnight, with Dallas and surrounding areas likely to encounter severe weather around midnight.

Flooding is the primary threat, with expectations of 1 to 3 inches of rain in the metroplex. The risk of hail and tornadoes remains low but is still present. A second wave of rain is anticipated Saturday afternoon and evening.

For those with plans this weekend, the NWS advises to stay connected for updates as conditions can change rapidly.
