Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran Lists New York Penthouse for $12 Million

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Barbara Corcoran, a well-known real estate mogul and star of the hit show “Shark Tank,” has listed her luxurious Fifth Avenue penthouse for $12 million. Corcoran has owned the stunning 4,600-square-foot duplex since 2015, when she purchased it for $10 million.
The penthouse, located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, features five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and two powder rooms. After buying the property, Corcoran invested an impressive $2 million in renovations over 18 months. The extensive remodeling preserved the apartment’s architectural charm while updating its layout and features, including a modern chef’s kitchen and an indoor/outdoor dining area.
Corcoran recalls her initial encounter with the penthouse in the early 1990s. At the time, she was working as a courier and delivered a package to the owner of the apartment. Struck by the breathtaking Central Park views visible through the French doors, she expressed her interest in purchasing the property someday.
“I walked in and saw this green, lush terrace and said, ‘If you’re ever going to sell this, would you sell it to me?’” Corcoran shared in a previous interview. More than two decades later, the original owner called her, leading to Corcoran’s purchase of the property.
While Corcoran is excited to sell, the decision comes as she has found it increasingly challenging to navigate the duplex’s stairs. Now at 76, she and her husband, Bill Higgins, 80, have opted for a new single-story apartment in Carnegie Hill.”
Corcoran believes the listing price is fair, especially considering her total investment in renovations and the monthly maintenance fees of approximately $11,000. “For me, real estate is emotional,” she stated. “I never thought I would ever leave.”
Scott Stewart and Carrie Chiang, both brokers with The Corcoran Group, are co-listing the property. Corcoran hopes the next owner will cherish the penthouse as much as she has.
